Myofascial Stretching

Fusion Health Studio offers unique, complete and a complementary system of stretching referred to as myofascial stretching which focuses on the fascia as the key element in achieving optimal flexibility, strength, performance and pain relief.

As mentioned, Myofascial stretching targets the fascial sheaths that surround and interconnect the muscles of the body.  To a certain extent all stretching involves the fascia that surrounds the target muscle.  However, the fascia also interconnects each muscle with other muscles along various “chains” throughout the body.  By placing the various segments of a myofascial chain under tension we can stretch not only the local fascial structures surrounding a target muscle but also fascial structures that interact with the target muscle from distant parts of the body.  This gives myofascial stretching a great advantage over more conventional method since tension in a muscle may often originate from a myofascial structure  located at a distant point.  Putting the entire fascial chain under tension not only allows you to find these distant sources of myofascial tension but also treat them more effectively than conventional stretching methods that merely target the muscle exhibiting local symptoms.  This is an important to consider as you may not feel the stretch in the target muscle while doing myofascial stretching.
